Grandmaster Abid was the first individual to introduce Muaythai sport in the country in 1992.With the singular intention of promoting the sport across the nook and corner of the country, he traveled all over and appointed representatives after floating State Associations. Later on Muaythai India (MTI) was registered in 1999. In 15 years time, MTI has its Muaythai State Associations spread across the country.MTI came into its own, when, under the stewardship of Grandmaster Abid, it successfully conducted the first National Muaythai championship in the year 2000 and. It was an instant success as athletes came from 13 States and paraded their skills before the watchful eyes of Grand Master Woody from Thailand and Mr Charlie from Switzerland. The MTI saga has been growing steadily and fruitfully. In the year 2000 has submitted application to Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports, Government of India for grant of recognition. In the year 2005 it received recognition from IOA as the sole National body for Muaythai sport in India.Muaythai India (MTI) has so far successfully conducted 15 National Muaythai championships in Senior, Junior and sub Junior categories in various states like AP, Karnataka, Assam, Mizoram.
Grandmaster Abid, through MTI, pioneered Pro AM National Championship in 2011 and so far conducted four Pro AM National championships at Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore.Mr Abid has taken enough periodical steps to spread the intricacies of the sport to successive generations. Towards achieving this, he has personally trained students and instructors, who have subsequently become respected referees and judges. Many of his students came through the Instructors examination in flying colors. After having set up their own Muaythai clubs, they are now earning a decent livelihood of their own.
It was a matter of great delight that Grandmaster Abid and his first generation of student-instructors have trained an estimated two million Muaythai exponents in the past 22 years. This is in addition to passing on the legacy to international athletes and providing training in combat sport to Karnataka police personnel.He has successfully organized 56 National championships in various Martial art sport out of which 34 are in Muaythai National championships. Hundreds of students have become champions in Muaythai sport in various states.
Nearly 343 Muaythai training camps have been organized under the personal guidance of Grand Master M H Abid by MTI at National HQ and at its various state associations.During the month of August Grand Master M H Abid on the invitation of Sikkim Muaythai Association visited Jorethang south Sikkim and organized Basic Muythai curriculum training camp from 16th to 24th August,2014 for the Sikkim athletes and also conducted grading examination for them and awarded license to teach Muaythai sport. He also conducted Referee and judge’s camp.
Conducted 15th MTI National championship -Junior and sub Junior at Sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium, Bangalore from 26-31st May,2014.
Conducted 15th MTI Senior National Muaythai championship from 12-16th Sept.2014 at L B Stadium Hyderabad in which 14 states of the country participated in which Chattisgarh team won the overall champions Trophy and Runner up trophy went to Telangana team.
Our Sikkim State Muaythai Association with the sanction of MTI organized 5th Pro AM National Muaythai championship from 28th Jan to 5th Feb.2015 at Jorethang South Sikkim.
