4th Pro AM National Muaythai Championship Held from 3-7th Jan.2014 at sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium Bangalore.
Muaythai India (MTI) National Federation and Muaythai Association Karnataka had organized the 4th Pro AM National Muaythai Championship at sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium Bangalore from 3-7th Jan.2014.
Muaythai athletes both male and female and officials from various states of the country like Delhi, UP, Tripura, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Karnataka etc participated in the championship.
Our athletes since 1996 have been participating at the world championship and have achieved 120 medals and also represented the country under IOA at the four Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games and have achieved 22 medals, thus increasing the Indian medal tally in these games and have brought laurels to the country.
After the arrival of teams, medical checkup and weightment was held on 2nd and 3rd January and draw of lots was held.
On 3rd Jan.2014 Grand Master M H Abid welcomed all the states team and officials and in the meeting expressed his gratitude to Mr Vikas Kumar Vikash,IPS, Commissioner Youth Empowerment and Sports and Director General Sports Authority of Karnataka for allotting the magnificent international standard Sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium for conducting our 4th Pro AM National championship which is situated in the heart of the city and very convenient to the participants as arrangements are provided for their stay in the indoor stadium self.
On 4th Jan. the championship was opened by the Chief Guest Sri B N S Reddy, IPS (Vigilance) inaugurated the bouts.
MTI President M H Abid welcomed all the participants and officials for the championship and wished them best wishes. Also On behalf of Muaythai India, he stated that it was his great pleasure to welcome Guest of Honour Sri B N S Reddy IPS and thanked him for gracing the occasion.
He stated that this sport has now been included in the World combat Games under Sports Accord and OCA has included this sport in Asian Beach Games scheduled during 2014. While emphasizing the importance of this sport and self defense he stated that now a days one can see every day incidence of chain snatching attack against lonely women who go out for work, as such he informed that there is greater need for learning the art of self defense particularly by the women folk to defend themselves and taking this into consideration many State Governments have introduced self defense courses in schools and colleges and in this regard the role of Muaythai sport is important as the sport is most effective form of self defense the of art Manythai. He was happy to note that the youths of the country are getting attracted to this fascinating sport. He said that sport helps to keep one’s mind and body healthy and fit and keep themselves away from bad habits and requested all the Executive members and state associations to work for the further popularizing this sport.
Dr. A.J Anandan IPS Retd, welcomed all the participants and also Mr Reddy IPS. He stated that this sport is now gaining wide popularity throughout the country and many of our athletes have been participating at the world championships and Asian Indoor Games.
Mr B N S Reddy IPS, Director Vigilance KSRTC in his address to the participants stated that Dr. Anandan has devoted his most of the life for the development of sports in Karnataka ,and still continue to be the Vice Chairman of sports Authority of Karnataka. He stated that he was happy to see both boys and girls who have come from far off places to participate in this championship. He stated that he is also a sports person and also martial art. A sports persons can withstand any amount of pressure in life, work pressure, family pressure etc. Regarding Muaythai he stated that this sport is most effective form of self defense. He advised the participants that whether they win or lose one should not lose heart and take it in a sporting way. Sporting attitude in life is most important and said that tolerance is highest defense of strength. This sport should be used for only defense and physical fitness and not as a weapon against the opponent. He hoped that all the participants will enjoy their stay in Bangalore’s pleasant climate. He asked the fighters to be the role model, be smiling and be happy and good in life. He wished them his best wishes.
On 3th Jan bouts were held as per draw of lots and on 6th Jan. final were held and medals were distributed to the medal winners.
Mr M H Abid in his closing speech thanked all the participants for participating and helping in making the event success. He also announced that all the medal winners in the age group of 10-37 years both boys and girls male and female of 2013 championship in Senior, Junior and sub junior categories would be eligible to represent the country at the forthcoming 2014 world championship, Asian Beach games in Amateur, Pro AM , events and requested them to register their names and send the passport copy by 15th January 2014.
He specially thanked Mr Vikas Kumar Vikash, IPS, Commissioner, Youth Empowerment and sports and Director General Sports Authority of Karnataka for, Kindly allotting Sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium for conducting the championship without which it would not have been possible to organize the event, He also expressed his thanks to the Dy. Director SAK and the other officials of Sports Authority of Karnataka for providing accommodation for the stay of athletes and officials at the stadium itself.
He thanked Dr B S Venkatesh. Nagarathna Hospital, Uttarhalli Bangalore for rendering medical service during the time of championship and Mr Raghavendra Prasad, Programme Manager, GMR Ambulance service for providing stand by ambulance during time of championship.
He thanked all the MTI technical officials for rendering duties of Referee and judge during the time of championship and conducting the championship smoothly.
He expressed his happiness that the championship ended without any incidence to the participants and wished them safe journey to their native places.
On 7th Jan. Commissioner Youth Empowerment and sports invited the MTI officials and medal winners to his chambers and awarded the Overall champions trophy to AP team and Runner up trophy to Maharashtra team and congratulated the winners. At this juncture, M H Abid requested the Commissioner to give support to Muaythai Association Karnataka for the promotion of this sport in the state and requested to grant SAK Membership to Muaythai Association Karnataka which would enable Karnataka athletes to get their identity.
As all the participants and their officials requested that the 15th Sub Junior and Junior National Muaythai championship be held in Sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium itself as it is most convenient and safe for the athletes on which Grand Master M H Abid requested the Director General Sports Authority of Karnataka to kindly allot Sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium for conducting the 15th MTI National championship ( Junior and sub Junior ) and Director General was kind enough to readily agree to allot the stadium for conducting the 15th MTI National championship during the month of May,2014. Mr M H Abid thanked the Director General for his kind gesture which would enable us to organize the 15th MTI National championship at Bangalore.
On 7th Jan. Grand Master M H Abid and MTI technical officials called a meeting of medal winners of 4th Pro AM and selected the athletes to participate at the forthcoming world championship-2014.
Sixteen fighters initially agreed to participate at the IFMA world championship-2014. He requested them to practice hard and to submit their passport within 10 days for further action. Also amateur championship have also been informed to send their name and passport to participate at the world championship and Games-2014 in the age group of 10 to 37 years.
